If clinically appropriate, a registered Irish GP will issue your medical certificate securely by email, often within hours.
A medical certificate (commonly called a sick note) is a formal document issued by a doctor confirming that you are medically unfit for work for a defined period.

1. Complete the Online Consultation
Provide details about your symptoms, when they began, and how they affect your ability to work.
2. Upload a Short Video
State your name and briefly describe your symptoms. This supports identity confirmation and responsible clinical assessment.
3. GP Review
An Irish Medical Council–registered doctor reviews your submission.
4. Certificate Issued (If Appropriate)
If clinically suitable, your €20 online sick note is issued securely by email.
If we cannot issue a certificate, you receive a full refund.
The video forms part of your confidential medical consultation and supports responsible clinical assessment.
All submissions are encrypted, reviewed only by an Irish Medical Council–registered doctor, and stored securely in compliance with GDPR and Irish data protection legislation. Your medical information is processed lawfully, confidentially, and retained only as required under medical record-keeping obligations.

Yes. An online medical certificate is valid in Ireland when it is issued by a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council following an appropriate clinical assessment. Employers are entitled to confirmation that a qualified doctor has assessed you; they are not entitled to know whether the consultation was in person or online.
Medical certificates issued by Irish-registered doctors include the doctor’s name, registration number, and certified dates of incapacity. This meets standard employer documentation requirements. Employers can verify IMC registration publicly if required.
Medical certificates reflect real-time clinical assessment.
We do not issue retrospective or backdated sick certificates unless there is clear medical justification determined by the reviewing doctor.
If you were unwell previously and did not seek medical review at the time, you should consult your GP directly.
As part of your online medical consultation, we request a short video to support responsible clinical assessment and identity verification.
This allows the reviewing Irish-registered GP to:
